What We Cover

We repair Windows PCs and laptops for businesses and offices across Mildenhall and the surrounding area, working from our base in Bury St Edmunds. Faults we deal with include slow or unresponsive machines, failed Windows updates, virus and malware infections, hardware failures (screens, hard drives, keyboards, power ports), and Microsoft 365 problems ranging from licensing errors to broken email sync.

We do not work on Apple Macs. If your office runs Windows, we can help. If it runs anything else, we are not the right people to call.

How to Choose a Computer Repair Contractor Near Mildenhall

The market for computer repair is not regulated, which means anyone can set up and start taking money. That is not necessarily a problem, but it does mean the burden of checking falls on you as the customer. A few straightforward steps will separate the capable from the unreliable before you hand over any equipment or access.

Start by asking how long the business has been trading and whether it has worked with other small businesses in the area. A contractor who only deals with home users may not understand the pressure a business is under when a machine is down during office hours. Ask specifically whether they cover your software: many generalist repairers will not touch Microsoft 365 licensing or business email configuration.

Questions to Ask Before You Agree

Before you confirm any work, ask the following questions and treat vague answers as a warning sign:

  • Will you give me a written summary of what is wrong and what you plan to do? A contractor who cannot explain the fault clearly, before starting, is unlikely to communicate well afterwards.
  • Do you charge a diagnosis fee, and is that separate from the repair cost? Know the full cost structure before you agree to anything. Some contractors apply a diagnosis charge even if you decide not to go ahead with the repair.
  • Is your support billed per computer or per user? This matters for ongoing contracts. Our support contracts are billed per computer per month, which is straightforward and easy to budget.
  • Do you carry out the work yourself, or do you pass it on? Some local shops sub-contract repairs. That is not always a problem, but you should know who is actually handling your machine and your data.
  • What happens to my data? Any contractor working on your machine will have access to your files. Ask whether they have a data handling policy and whether they will sign a confidentiality agreement if your business requires it.
  • Are on-site visits included, or charged separately? This is one of the most common sources of unexpected bills. Know the answer before work starts.

What a Good Contractor Should Be Able to Confirm

A competent contractor should be able to tell you, before they start, what they think is wrong and why. They should explain the options available - repair, component replacement, reinstall - and give you a clear picture of cost before proceeding. If a contractor cannot give you even a provisional explanation of the fault, that is a problem.

They should also be clear about what is and is not included in any ongoing support arrangement. For example, our Business Essentials plan covers unlimited remote and phone support, updates, backups and security monitoring. On-site visits under that plan are charged separately at a £60 call-out fee plus labour. Our Business Premium plan includes on-site labour and call-outs within the monthly price. Both plans are priced per computer, not per user.

Our Support Plans - Prices Explained Plainly

Business Essentials is priced at £36 per computer per month for a single machine, dropping to £31.20 each for two to three computers, £25.20 each for four to nine, £22.20 each for ten to seventeen, and £21.60 each for eighteen or more. All prices exclude VAT.

Business Premium starts at £54 per computer per month for one machine, with £42 each for two to three, £38.60 each for four to six, £33.80 each for seven to nine, £31.20 each for ten to twelve, £28.40 each for thirteen to fifteen, £25.40 each for sixteen to nineteen, and £24.40 each for twenty or more. All prices exclude VAT.

If you do not want a monthly contract, we offer blocks of pre-paid time. A four-hour block costs £312, eight hours costs £592, and sixteen hours costs £1,123. Each block includes monthly monitoring and priority service and is valid for up to six months. A managed email service is also available, priced on request.

If You Are Not on a Contract

For one-off repairs, ask the contractor to confirm the diagnosis before any work starts and to tell you the likely total cost. A good contractor will not begin work on a machine without your explicit agreement on scope and price. If they push back on that, look elsewhere.

Also ask whether the fix will hold. Some faults - a failing hard drive, a machine running an operating system that is no longer supported - may be repaired temporarily but will return. A contractor worth using will tell you this honestly rather than take your money for a short-term patch.
